Ongoing, compassionate support for pets living with chronic pain.
Arthritis, cancer pain, and other chronic conditions can quietly diminish your pet's quality of life. Our chronic pain management service combines in-home evaluation, medication planning, and regular follow-ups to keep your pet as comfortable as possible.
The subtle signs of chronic pain are often mistaken for normal aging — slowing down, reluctance to play, changes in appetite or behavior. Yet pain is one of the most under-recognized and under-treated conditions in pets.
Effective pain management tackles pain through multiple pathways at once: carefully chosen medications, nutritional supplements, and adjunct therapies such as massage and acupuncture. Continuous reassessment and open communication with your family ensure the plan keeps working as your pet's needs change.
During the consultation, Dr. Ma reviews your pet's medical records and performs a thorough physical exam in your home — where your pet is most relaxed, so pain is not masked by stress. She learns your expectations and your capacity for home care, suggests adjustments to your home setting, and provides tools for monitoring quality of life. She will also discuss an end-of-life care plan and offer emotional support.
Dr. Ma arrives in normal casual clothing (no lab coat or scrubs) to keep the visit calm and low-key. Consultations typically run 2–3 hours. If your pet may be aggressive toward strangers, please let Dr. Ma know ahead of time so she can help you prepare.
Care is typically structured around the in-home consultation visit, with ongoing management tailored to your pet's condition and response to treatment.
